ASIIN Accreditation is the Target

On 13-14 February 2025, a team of assessors from ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik) Germany conducted a field visit to the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP) and Faculty of Agriculture (FAPERTA) of the University of Jember (UNEJ). The visit was part of the international accreditation process proposed by four study programmes at UNEJ, namely the Agricultural Product Technology Study Programme, the Agricultural Engineering Study Programme and the Agricultural Industrial Technology Study Programme at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology and the Plant Protection Study Programme at the Faculty of Agriculture.
The field visit by a team of assessors consisting of Prof. Dr. Alexander Stoy, FH Kiel (University of Applied Sciences), Maria Mothes, M.A. (ASIIN Representative), Dr. Arinafril (Sriwijaya University), Dr. Maria Sugiharti (Wilmar Benih Indonesia), Hafidatun Niza (University of Muhammadiyah Malang) aims to directly evaluate the readiness and condition of the four study programmes in achieving international accreditation from ASIIN. The assessor team wanted to take a close look at the laboratory facilities, curriculum, teaching staff, infrastructure and other resources owned by the study programme.
The visit on the first day began with an interview process in a closed meeting with the Rector and University and Faculty Leaders and continued with stakeholders and alumni from each Study Programme. On the second day of the visit, the assessor team visited the facilities available at the University of Jember Jubung campus and the CDAST (Center for Development of Advanced Science and Technology) integrated laboratory then continued to see the facilities at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology including Fateta Café, Fateta Bakery bread production and cooking class, Study Programme Laboratories, classrooms and green houses. After visiting the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, the assessors continued the visit to the Plant Protection Study Programme of the Faculty of Agriculture
Previously, the four study programmes had gone through the process of submitting administrative requirements. This field visit is an important stage in the accreditation process. The results of this visit will be taken into consideration by ASIIN in making the accreditation decision.
UNEJ hopes that by obtaining international accreditation from ASIIN, the quality and competitiveness of graduates from the four study programmes can increase at the global level. This accreditation is also expected to be a recognition of the quality of education provided by UNEJ. [es]
